I’m sure by now you have heard the news that the new and improved Intuit ProPartner Accountants program will succeed the IntuitProAdvisor program in early 2027. And while the old program had its perks, I’m really excited about some features in this new iteration.
One reward I’m most looking forward to is the extended revenue share period, going from 12 months to 3 years. Hip-hip-hooray!!! My firm is mostly a QBO shop, and we refer the software to our clients, so being rewarded financially makes me and my bank account happy. And with the economy the way it is, I’m happy to take any extra dollars that come my way. We preach to our clients to find passive income sources, so the Intuit team must have been a fly on the wall in my last meeting and given us this significant benefit because they knew we would be happy about it.

Why the new change, you ask?
This new program was built with firm owners in mind. The old program focused heavily on individual certifications and rewards, but this new program is looking at firm ownership holistically. The idea is not only to focus training on knowing the products well but also on strengthening the connection between us and our team members, as well as connecting us with our virtual colleagues all across the globe.
My team has grown from solo to 4 and I’m always striving to make sure they are growing professionally. I told all of them when they came to work for me, “I want you to leave better than when you first arrived,” and the new ProPartner program is helping me do that through training and certifications. I was always a believer in the annual QBO certification, but now I can help up-level my team even more with training topics spanning accounting, tax, and including soft skills that help deliver advisory and get them more comfortable with AI. The best part of this is that I can assign these trainings directly to team members and tailor them to their current skill level and their professional goals. This helps me ensure my team gets strong in areas that they may need improvement on and I have a bird’s-eye view through IAS to see their progress.
There is also in-person training coming to a city near you. Have you seen the promotions for the Better Together Tour? It has four stops, with half-day interactive workshops that will not only help you learn how to run your firm better but also include lots of networking. This sounds like a dream for this extroverted extrovert (yes, I’m talking about me lol).
I also heard there is going to be an opportunity to win awards as a member of the ProPartner Accountants program. Intuit is planning on celebrating firms that are innovating, giving back to our accounting community, and setting standards for what a modern firm should look like. I’m looking forward to learning more about this and hopefully being recognized for the work I do, ensuring that I make accounting look cool and fun for the next generation of accountants.
Speaking of the next generation, Intuit is also heavily invested in upskilling the next generation of accounting professionals through their career pipeline. Their goal is to help one million students through education and mentorship over the next five years. I had the opportunity to participate in one of the Career Lab webinars, and it was a very fun experience chatting with a few other accountants and an accounting professor about where our industry currently is and where it is going.
How do you get started?
In order for you to fully take advantage of the benefits, you first have to switch to Intuit Accountant Suite (IAS). And from personal experience, I can tell you that this is an upgrade from our former QuickBooks Online Accountant (QBOA) view. There are tools in IAS that are allowing me to manage my firm much better now. My firm has drastically evolved since I first jumped onto the QBOA platform over 10 years ago, and now I’m feeling like I have a central place to manage the biggest part of our business.
After you make the switch, you want to verify that you and your team are certified. To move up from the initial Member tier, at least one person in your firm needs to be certified on either QuickBooks Level 1, QuickBooks Payroll, or Intuit Enterprise Suite. And as I mentioned before, you will now be able to see this quickly in your IAS team module.
Lastly, in order to maximize your benefits, you need to make sure you have consolidated all of your firm’s consoles. This only applies if you have more than one experience of QBOA and if you are confused right now, this doesn’t apply to your firm, lol.
And I know you are going to ask how you move up and down the tiers. Well, how much you spend, how many clients you are connected to, and the number of certifications you complete will affect your level. Additional details about how to move up a tier or maintain your current level will be released later this year, so keep your eyes peeled for that.
